Savannah Guthrie Is Off ‘Today’ After 84-Year-Old Mom Nancy Goes Missing From Her Arizona Home

“Today” show host Savannah Guthrie will be off screens on Monday after his 84-year-old mother, Nancy GuthrieShe was reported missing from her home in Arizona on Sunday.

Savannah, 54, released a statement about her partner, Craig Melvin again Sheinelle Jonesthanking “Today” viewers for their messages of support—and urging anyone with information about her mother’s whereabouts to contact local authorities in Pima County.

“On behalf of our family, I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and messages of support,” the statement began. “For now, we are focused on the safe return of our beloved mother.

“We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Office at 520-351-4900.”

According to the local police, Nancy was last seen by her family members around 9:45 pm on Jan. 31. He was reported missing by his relatives in Tucson on Sunday morning.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos revealed in a press conference held on the same day that the foul play has not been released, adding that certain information found in Nancy’s house gave cause for “great concern” among the police who attended the event, although he did not give further details about the findings.

According to a report by Today.com, Sheriff Nanos added that his department is very concerned about Nancy’s welfare due to her age and physical condition, although he noted that she is understood to be in full control of her cognitive abilities.

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the scene, including homicide detectives, Sheriff Nanos said, adding: “You don’t usually get an officer out of a crime scene like this, but it’s more about what we learn from the house.

“I hope we find him safe, but we can’t ignore what’s in front of us.”

Missing persons posters describe Nancy as 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

Local authorities are using all the tools at their disposal in the search for Nancy, including drones, a helicopter, an airplane, and search and rescue dogs. Volunteers also combed the area around the Guthrie home looking for Savannah’s mother.

“We did the best we could,” Nanos said.

The “Today” show host, who was born in Melbourne, Australia—where his father was working at the time—spent most of his childhood and youth living in Arizona, after his family moved back to the US when he was young, eventually settling in Tucson.

Property records show that Nancy, who lost her husband when Savannah was just 16 years old, has lived on the property for the past 50 years, having purchased the property for just $85,000 in 1975.

Savannah recently returned to Arizona to film a segment about her hometown on the “Today” show, which included a visit to her mother’s home where she grew up.

Before the episode aired, Guthrie revealed the importance of his trip—and his desire to highlight the many places in Tucson that helped him become the person he is today, explaining to Tucson.com that he’s maintained close ties to the community even after leaving.

“I’m sad about it. I’m very proud of Tucson. I think it’s a wonderful and unique place to be from, and I’m proud of it, so this was just a joy,” he said during the half.

Savannah, who attended the University of Arizona, only moved out of state after graduation, when she was offered a job in Butte, MT, a role she says her mother actively encouraged her to take, despite her frustration at the prospect of her daughter moving.

“It’s not that he didn’t want me to stay. Yes, he wanted me to stay,” recalls the star of “Namuhla”. “But I said, ‘I won’t stand in the way of your dreams.’

Savannah moved to New York full-time in 2011, when she was named the official host of the 4 o’clock “Today” show, and Al Roker again Natalie Morales.

At first she lived in a Tribeca apartment with her husband, Mike Feldmanthe air star has since moved into a townhouse in Brooklyn with her husband and their two children.

They said at the time that they were moving to a Brooklyn pad in 2023 after selling their Tribeca home because they “had a vision and a dream to live in a townhouse.”
