Australian jewelery design rock star Millie Savage is about to say goodbye to her Fitzroy sanctuary with a range of $2.25m-$2.35m.

Ms. Savage’s creations have been worn by celebrities including Miley Cyrus and Chappell Roan.

In addition to the Fitzroy storefront and studio in the same location as Ms Savage’s home, the label has boutiques in London and New York.

The jeweler has been called “the rock star of the Australian jewelery industry” by the famous fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar.

Ms Savage said she enjoyed being close to the two-bedroom terrace in Brunswick St restaurants and Carlton Gardens where she enjoys walking her dog, Sparkles.

The home at 44 Bell St, which is within the former Fitzroy National School, was renovated in a project led by MvS Architects prior to Ms Savage’s purchase.

Millie Savage began selling her jewelry at markets and outside stores before moving to a studio and shop in Brunswick. He now has stores in Fitzroy, London and New York.

The residence has an upper living and dining area with a garage kitchen, fireplace, original columns, a balcony overlooking the back yard filled with greenery and a two-car garage.

“The large windows bring in a lot of natural light, a soft, hazy southern morning light that feels like an obvious place for a painting by one of my best friends Ajay Jennings (painter and designer),” says Ms. Savage.

Works by artists Charlie Harding, Ben Minkley, Charlotte Alldis, Kepsibel and Jessie Spencer are hung throughout the home.

Artwork and pops of color add a sense of art to a renovated home.

Ms Savage described the master bedroom’s central hanging painted ceiling as like a sculpture, while the ensuite features a custom-made bathtub and handmade Japanese finger tiles.

“I love being surrounded by color and chaos and beautiful things, and Bell St gave me a wall space to lean on,” she added.

Hosting dinner parties at the venue even inspired a new project she’s working on, The Makers Table, which brings together artists in the various fields of platemaking, glassware, textiles, food and drink.

Both bedrooms have ensuites, and the house also offers a powder room and European laundry.

Work commitments and Ms Savage’s Gherang farm on the Surf Coast are among the reasons she decided to sell her Bell St residence.

“There’s a lot going on – growing my art, I’m still making jewelery by hand all the time and my life in Gherang only works when I’m there getting dirt under my fingernails and looking at the land, plants, animals and general farm chaos,” she added.

Charlie Barham of Nelson Alexander described the house as suitable for couples, creatives or youngsters who enjoy design but also want something easy to live in.

“It’s not a big, extravagant family home, but it’s perfect for buyers who want character, light, and the wow factor without the maintenance headache,” said Mr Barham.

Award-winning MvS Architects renovated the house under its previous owners.

He added that a house with a yard full of greenery is rare in Fitzroy.

“Add a balcony on the top floor and suddenly you’ve got the perfect outdoor space in an inner-city location,” notes Mr Barham.

“It gives the house breathing space and makes it feel more like a home than a typical terrace or conversion.”

The house will be sold at 6.30pm on Thursday 5th March.
