EXCLUSIVE: ‘Pitt’ Star Katherine LaNasa Celebrates HBO Premiere Hit With News $2 Million LA Mansion

“Pitt” is a star Katherine LaNasa has quickly become one of Hollywood’s hottest stars since the hit HBO medical drama premiered—and it seems she celebrated the start of her new role in true A-list fashion: by buying a new Los Angeles mansion.

According to property records, LaNasa, 59, and her husband, the former “Melrose Place” star. Grant Show63, splashed out $2.13 million on a mid-century modern “masterpiece” that’s already “far from the Hollywood mark” in March 2025, about two months after “The Pitt” premiered on HBO.

The purchase of their new home, located in Beachwood Canyon, came about a year after they sold a charming beachfront residence in Marina del Rey, CA, for $1.88 million, a property they had owned for more than a decade.

While their new abode doesn’t boast close proximity to the ocean, it has many impressive features befitting such a star-studded couple—including an impressive architectural pedigree, originally designed by a famous architect. Lorenzo Tedesco in the 1960s.

According to the original description, the home had been in the hands of the same owners for more than five decades when LaNasa and Show bought the property, which was hailed as “a true piece of Los Angeles history.”

Designed to “blend seamlessly into its natural surroundings,” the home features a stone and wood exterior, as well as large windows that maximize beautiful views from every room.

That view can also be enjoyed from the home’s many balconies, which also provide great places to sit and soak up the scenery.

While the home itself was described as a unique gem, the listing also noted that the expansive lot—covering less than half an acre—also offers ample room for expansion, should LaNasa and Show wish to make any additions to the existing 2,500-square-foot home.

“This is a rare opportunity to own a piece of architectural history, perfect for someone who appreciates its beauty and rich history,” the listing concludes.

It appears that LaNasa and the Show fell for the house—paying more than $100,000 over the original asking price of $1.99 million to secure the property.

The purchase undoubtedly marked a brave new chapter for LaNasa, who recently admitted that she had been in a “dark place” before she took her role in “The Pitt,” a sadness she attributed to her diagnosis of breast cancer in February 2023, and the fact that she “had been out of work for a while.”

LaNasa has seen her star rise ever since she first played the character, even claiming an Emmy Award for Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at the 2025 ceremony.

But the latest actor has opened up during a recent appearance Stephen Colbertnightly show about the many impactful ways his life changed after arriving at “The Pitt.”

“About a year before I found ‘The Pitt’ I was in a dark place, I was out of work for a while, I had cancer,” he recalled.

The actress went on to reveal that, when she was young, she was always taught, when times were difficult, to evaluate how she might change her fortune – admitting that she taught herself to think that if she “did everything perfectly,” she would not avoid any kind of loss or difficulty.

“So when I found myself in this place, I felt like a failure. And I was full of regret,” he admitted. “And I had these constant thoughts of, ‘If only you hadn’t called that meeting,’ or, ‘Why did you say that?’ or ‘Why did you use hormones to get pregnant?’ or ‘Why did you drink so much?’ or ‘If only I had started using Botox in my 30s.’

LaNasa admitted that she doesn’t give herself “kindness,” even as she struggles with cancer treatment—until she saw a clip of an interview between Colbert and the CNN host. Anderson Cooperwhen the two men discussed how grief had affected their lives.

According to LaNasa, watching Colbert talk about grief as an important part of the human experience helped him understand that he had no ability to protect himself from bad feelings, at least not if he wanted to really feel the good.

“I saw that clip of you talking to the very famous Anderson Cooper. And you, and I put it into words, saying, ‘Our sadness and our loss is part of what makes us human and allows us to understand and connect with other people. And if we are going to really love our life, we have to love it all, we can’t turn our backs on that part, “he remembered.

“You are very wise! And I heard you, I heard you. In the depths of my despair, I heard you. And I began to live with this new thing, which was: Sometimes you lose. Sometimes you get the short end of the stick, sometimes you do wrong.

“Life will bring us great beauty and great joy, but it will also hit us in the butt, and bring sorrow and loss. So I began to live with this, I began to lighten up.”

Soon after, LaNasa played the role of Dana in “The Pitt,” a part in which she said her battle with cancer “fit in well,” especially when it comes to understanding the important role medical professionals play in our lives.

“And it connected with people and they gave me an Emmy, and I went up on stage! And I was so overwhelmed that I felt like I was hitting everything I wanted to say. But I had the good sense to bring all the joy and energy that came from the room,” he added.

LaNasa’s honest admission about how his life changed because of his role on “The Pitt” comes days after his co-star, Wyle, said the same about the show.

Wyle, who for many years chose to live on a farm in Santa Ynez, CA, away from the bright lights of Hollywood, talked about his problems in an interview with the New York Times, telling the newspaper that things got “so dark,” as the book put it, that he even considered selling his baseball card collection to raise more money.

While Wyle appeared in several projects after “ER,” nothing he did seemed to match the success of that first big hit—and he soon found that interest in his work began to wane.

The actress, who has three children – a son,Owen23, and a daughter,Auden20, and ex-wifeTracyand a daughter,Francesand his second wife,Sara—remembered a moment a few years ago when, faced with mounting debt, he pulled out his impressive collection of baseball cards and arranged them all in a book so an expert could assess their value.

Property records show that Wyle also entertained the idea of selling his longtime home in Santa Ynez, the sprawling 80-acre property he moved to as “ER” was about to expire.

According to Realtor.com® data, properties were listed on the market for less than $6.5 million in March 2020; however, the listing was withdrawn in June of the same year.

It is not clear whether the actor decided to list the home because of the financial problems he was facing at the time.

Wyle had bought the property—made up of two parcels—during his final years filming “ER,” explaining to Cowboys & Indians magazine in 2019 that he wanted his children to be raised more in the countryside, without being too far from Los Angeles.

“I needed to be close to Los Angeles geographically to be able to do something, but I didn’t want to raise my children in Los Angeles,” he explained. “I grew up in Los Angeles. I’m an Angeleno, and I wanted something a little more rural and smaller and slower than the city life for my kids.

“I had a two-hour drive from work on Friday night when I went to the ER and couldn’t sleep at the wheel.”

The actor mentioned that the family welcomed a lot of wild animals to the farm, adding pigs, chickens, horses, dogs and cats to their livestock.

Before moving to the farm, Wyle and his family lived in a place in Los Feliz, which he released in 2004, listing the property for $ 3.8 million.

Speaking to the Times, Wyle did not specify how bad his financial problems became, but he credits the COVID-19 pandemic with helping him find a new purpose in his life, in part because, instead of not being able to find a truly meaningful job, he was forced to stop working altogether.

Although this may not help his money, buthe didhis popularity soon re-emerged—as medical professionals began turning to Wyle and his “ER” colleagues for a form of comfort.

Wyle admits they premiered “The Pitt” with no real idea of how it would do—only to find out that lightning can strike twice, with many viewers flocking to binge on the first series, which chronicles one day in the emergency room, hour by hour.

HBO Max renewed the show for a second season before the first installment of episodes finished airing, with the latest episodes set to air on Jan. 8—less than four months after “The Pitt” scored three major wins at the 2025 Emmy Awards.

Speaking to Variety during the series’ second season premiere, Wyle admitted he was surprised by the show’s response, telling those on the red carpet: “I never thought the light would strike twice in my life, 30 years apart … it’s the greatest gift of all.”

When asked if he had a message for his child, he was quick to share: “Don’t worry too much, it’s going to be okay. Don’t sell your baseball collection.”
