The former Foxtel boss lists Mosman as a ‘family sanctuary’

28 David St, Mosman has an asking price of $18m.
Richard Freudenstein, director at Realestate.com.au and former CEO of Foxtel and his wife Jane, director of The Australian Ballet, are selling one of Mosman’s most desirable homes and are asking $18m.
Cardross at 28 David St is situated on 1150sqm of circular land in Clifton Gardens, and has been tastefully renovated.
Jane, who is originally from Scotland, was actually drawn to the 1921 home because of its Scottish name and the couple bought it in 2018.
Geoff Smith of the Ray White Lower North Group said Cardross represented a dying breed of Mosman property.

The couple has hosted many family events in spacious venues.
“This is a true family property with the level, privacy and refinement to accommodate multi-generational living and great entertaining,” he said.
“The owners have created something truly special here, completing a renovation that honors the character of the century-old home while introducing world-class appointments throughout.”
Jane also liked the fact that two families had lived in Cardross for many years.
“It told us that this is a home that inspires happy times,” she said.
“The building allows lots of groups to get together at the same time, it’s been great. “We’ve had Christmas drinks with 30 teenagers in the back garden, parents in the kitchen, and friends on the top terrace, all at the same time.
“When our daughter turned 25, there were 50 friends gathered in the front garden in the middle of the winter sun.”
American Oak flooring flows throughout.
Natural light floods the interior through well-placed skylights so that the entire home from formal rooms to everyday living areas enjoys plenty of light.
Ornate ornate details sit alongside classic wainscotting, imported pendant lights and intricate wallpaper.

The five luxurious bathrooms finished in natural stone have many with underfloor heating, with three bedrooms opening from the great rooms.
The heart of this home is the open-plan living area, where the dining and living areas meet with a Michelin Star-caliber gourmet kitchen complete with a butler’s pantry, SubZero refrigerator and wine cooler and a climate-controlled wine cellar with 780 bottles.
Cardross, which has a living area of 488sqm, will go to auction on Thursday March 12.
The home opens to limestone terraces on all levels with French doors and double doors.
Outside there is a low level lawn, a mosaic tiled pool and a poolside kitchen for alfresco entertaining.
The master bedroom opens onto a terrace with views towards The Heads.
David St is a wide tree-lined road near Clifton Gardens Reserve and the village of Mosman.
“We’ve lived in Mosman for 28 years, and this place is the epitome of everything we love about the place.” We love the walks, the town of Mosman, the people, the schools and all three of our girls go to Wenona,” added Jane Freudenstein.
The couple is now getting closer to the city.
