‘Modernist Master’ RM Schindler’s Famed Druckman Residence Returns to Market in LA with Significant Price Reduction

A modern four bedroom property designed by a renowned architect RM Schindler is back on the market again—marking the third time in less than a year that a Los Angeles condo has been listed for sale.

Known as the Druckman Residence, the well-maintained home was listed for $3.3 million in February 2025. However, in the months since, that price has been cut repeatedly, with the latest listing, posted on Jan. 30, which offers a much reduced bid of $2.49 million.

Built in 1941, the 1,662-square-foot home was approved Dr. Jacob S. Druckman and his wife, an artist Margaret Druckmanwho worked closely with the “modern master” to create what is now an authentic piece of LA history.

“It was working with Schindler and the Druckmans and they chose the richest site in Hollywood history,” it said. Michael Maguirewho connects the area with other Compass agents Victoria Massenghale again Daria Greenbaum.

“The home is very close to Mulholland Drive and is very integrated with a panoramic view of both the green area and nature.”

According to records, the sellers have only owned the one-story residence for two years, having purchased it for $2.35 million in January 2024.

It is said to be one of two Druckman leases in the area, the other being a medical office in Beverly Hills.

Located in an exclusive neighborhood known as Outpost Estates in the Hollywood Hills, the luxury time capsule has a distinctive asymmetrical gable roof designed to hide the home from the street.

Maguire said the home was designed for moderation and easy living.

“The modern movement was a new concept of living accessible to people, providing a better life, while also creating a life experience that we had never seen before,” he added.

Canyon views are magnified by oversized windows that were designed to allow an abundance of natural light to flood the split-level floor plan.

“What is remarkable about this home is the placement of the windows and doors,” he said. “They are well placed to frame the hills and valleys.”

Highlights include a private master suite designed for added privacy, and a dual indoor-outdoor fireplace located in the living room, providing a seamless transition to outdoor living.

“There have been many thoughtful and careful updates to celebrate the purpose of the buildings,” Maguire said. “Retailers have made critical advances in modern life.”

Exposed beams, vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors, built-ins, and wood-paneled walls can also be found throughout the home.

The retro kitchen has mint green appliances and a Schindler-designed, built-in dining area.

There is also a cozy cave for intimate gatherings that offers treetop views.

“I think it’s going to be a creative person or an artist that’s going to be the next custodian of this place,” Maguire said. “Because it’s small in scale, people have an idea of what that living experience is like. It’s definitely been well preserved over the years.”

All bedrooms were “positioned to maximize natural light and connection to the outdoors.” The primary suite has canyon views and offers a newly modernized bathroom while the other guest rooms have original built-ins and offer access to a private backyard.

Outside, a “new landscape” leads down to an oval, underground pool, which is said to have been built Richard Neutra.

“I could see someone wanting to live here as a primary residence, but I could see it as a secondary residence,” he added. “It is the perfect size for a pied-à-terre that is quintessential California and very special.”
