While the house was originally designed by Frank Stary – and when it was put up for sale in 2024 it was something of a ’70s era – it was carefully rethought by architects Oramatis, and architect Watton Construction.

It is clear that raising the home to be the best in Tasmania was the goal, however, the designer and builder also showed respect for the original design of the building.

Peterswald agent Phoebe Nothling described the home as “timeless”.

Mrs Nothling said the kitchen was the focal point, at the heart of the home, and was appointed with Taj Mahal Quartzite benchtops, a waterfall central island, high-end appliances and a fully equipped dining room.

It’s a homely feel, including many living spaces.

“As we move around, you’ll see the Taj Mahal theme coming up in the laundry, the bathrooms, the living room – there’s a beautiful consistent theme throughout the home,” she said.
