EXCLUSIVE: ’90 Day Boyfriend: Before 90 Days’ Star Rethinks His Marriage After Seeing Wife’s Luxurious Home in the Philippines

Different spending habits are a common cause of conflict in relationships—so when a “90 Day Boyfriend: Before 90 Days” cast member saw his wife’s huge house in the Philippines for the first time, it left him with serious doubts about their compatibility as a couple.

Jovon again Annalyn Fox is one of eight couples featured in Season 8 of TLC’s hit series, which premiered on December 7. The spinoff show serves as a prequel to the original series “90 Day Fiance” and follows Americans as they travel overseas to meet romantic partners they’ve only known until now online.

Jovon, 38, is a nursing home worker from Alabama, and Annalyn, 38, is based in Dasmariñas, Cavite, Philippines.

The hopeful lovers first connected six years ago on Filipino Cupid, an online dating service, and their long-distance romance led to the couple saying “I do” in virtual marriage despite never having met in person.

Now, nearly three years into their marriage, the Foxes are seeing each other offline for the first time—and much to Jovon’s dismay, he discovers that he doesn’t like Annalyn’s glamorous life.

In an exclusive clip from the next episode, “Prepare for Arrival,” Annalyn shows Jovon her house in the Philippines.

“Here, Boo, yes, come, yes, welcome home,” he said as the front door opened to the narrow cream hallway.

Jovon pulls his luggage into the entryway and immediately reacts to the style and size of Annalyn’s living space.

“I see, OK, lots of colors, very big areas,” he notes.

The couple enters the great room with an open concept that uses contrasting colored walls to define the kitchen from the living room area of the building, combined with the leather of the L-shaped bed.

In the kitchen, peach-toned walls complement the neutral, tan backsplash and countertops, while black cabinets provide a striking contrast. Cooking tools and appliances are displayed on the counter and various open shelves, and a large hall with glassware and beautiful dishes sits behind a rectangular dining table draped with a red tablecloth, a runner, and a floral centerpiece.

Kitchen decor includes a piece of nature-inspired artwork mounted on the wall and a large model vessel sitting atop the white refrigerator.

Although the kitchen seems spacious enough to cook, eat, and gather, Annalyn describes it as modest.

“This is my small kitchen, I know it’s very small,” he said.

However, Jovon’s reaction reveals that he does not see eye to eye with Annalyn’s assessment of the square picture.

“No, it’s big enough,” he replied with a smile.

The two walked up the green hallway and into a lavender walled bedroom with a white, upholstered bed, two white nightstands, a matching patterned loveseat set, a flatscreen TV, and an LED ring light.

Behind the scenes, Jovon reveals his shocking first impression of his wife’s huge abode.

“When I first saw my wife’s house,” he says, “I was amazed at how big it was—it’s one of the biggest houses on the block.”

Back at Annalyn’s house, Jovon tells his wife about his reaction.

“Wow, Boo, this is a lot bigger than I first thought,” Jovon said, as Annalyn emphasized her need for more room.

“But it’s very hot here, that’s why I sleep on the floor most of the time,” he explained.

Annalyn leads Jovon to show her “another closet” that includes floor-to-ceiling cabinets and open glass shelves for her bags and shoes, and Jovon really begins to question whether Annalyn really needs that much space.

“I think Anna doesn’t need two floors,” he said. I mean, I live in a very small house, and I live with three people.

Jovon and Annalyn’s final stop on the indoor tour is in front of a glass and metal display case decorated with jewel-shaped colored glass accessories on top and a sprinkling of framed pictures inside.

“What are you looking at? Oh, some travel photos,” Annalyn explained, before describing all the places she was photographed. “This is Palawan. This is in Batanes. This is in Albay. Look, Mayon, make an ATV.”

While Jovon tells his wife that the photos look “beautiful,” his inner monologue addresses Annalyn’s household expenses and lifestyle, leading him to reconsider the financial generosity he gave his wife.

“Everywhere I look, you know, I just see dollar signs,” Jovan said. “I see a lot of travel pictures.

“I mean, he always complains that I don’t love him enough but seeing how he lives and where my money goes, it makes me feel like I’m being exploited, so, I think he needs to tone it down a bit.”

With more than 9,000 miles between their cities, it seems that Jovan and Annalyn’s attitudes toward money are worlds apart.

“90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days” airs Sundays at 8pm on TLC.
