A developer is launching Newstead’s tallest residential tower

Initial site works have begun at Oro Newstead marking a milestone in Brisbane’s north and the start of the first residential tower in Newstead’s emerging Little Italy area.

Located at 75 Longland St, it will be the tallest residential building in Newstead, introducing a new landmark to the suburb while focusing on future use.

The project is being developed and built by locally based Panettiere Developments, continuing the family’s long history of residential design and development throughout Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Developer Max Panettiere from Panettiere Developments said Oro Newstead was the first residential area in the Little Italy neighborhood, an area inspired by Italian architecture, street life and food culture.

Oro Newstead from Panettiere Developments will be the tallest building in the suburb with apartments priced from $1.07m.

“Designed as a walkable, connected space, this area will introduce dining, retail and open spaces, placing future residents in an established inner-city location while adding a new layer of character to Newstead,” he said.

“The word ‘Oro’, which means gold in Italian, informs the whole design process.

“The tower features a sculptural, stairwell with a warm material palette that draws on European references while remaining rooted in its urban context.

“Panels inspired by travertine and glacial glaze are used to create a sense of permanence, light and openness, with expansive views across the city and surrounding regions.

Oro Newstead will deliver 197 apartments, junior penthouses and one and five bedroom penthouses.

“At street level, the building connects directly to the future Little Italy scene with a piazza-style ground plane.

“This interface is designed to encourage movement, communication and daily activity, reinforcing a pedestrian-oriented lifestyle instead of a closed residential address.”

The development will have 197 residential units, ranging from one to five bedrooms, including apartments, sub-penthouses and penthouses.

“Floorplans are designed with space and flexibility in mind, responding to owner-occupiers who want long-term solutions rather than short-term solutions,” said Mr. Panettiere.

The Little Italy area will feature dining, retail and outdoor dining.

“The properties are aimed to suit different stages of life, attracting downsizers, professional couples and families alike.

“Carr’s interiors employ a restrained, timeless approach. Full-length light, open proportions and a thoughtful flow of interior and exterior are paired with a palette of materials influenced by a Mediterranean sensibility.

“Kitchens and bathrooms feature integrated European appliances, refined and durable fittings selected for longevity and everyday use.”

Residents will also experience a private residence and lifestyle known as Club Oro.

The target date for completion of Oro Newstead is 2029.

Facilities span multiple levels and include a heated rooftop pool with dining and city views, an indoor heated pool with hot and cold plunge pools, a gym and pilates and yoga areas, a sauna, steam and salt therapy rooms, private dining areas, resident lounges, co-working spaces with podcast rooms and a dedicated guest area.

According to Mr Panettiere, Oro Newstead represents both a continuation of the family’s architectural legacy and a response to how people want to live in Brisbane today.

A one-bedroom design with a utility room is priced from $1.07m, two-bedroom residences start at $2.1m and a two-bedroom residence with a utility room costs from $2.3m.

Prices for three-bedroom townhouses start at $2.6m and three-bedroom purpose-built apartments cost from $3.8m. Completion of Oro Newstead is targeted for 2029.
