Lakefront home with private pontoon and Harbor Bridge metal market

A lakefront home with its own private pontoon and a stunning link to one of Australia’s most iconic landmarks has hit the market near Cairns – offering water enthusiasts a backyard playground without any immediate neighbours.
A five-bedroom, one-bathroom industrial-style home at 6 Williams Avenue, Yungaburra is set on a spacious 5290sqm lot, with a price guide of around $2.5 million.

Boasting direct access to the lake with its own private pontoon for boating, fishing and kayaking, selling agent Carol Blease from CS Real Estate Agency said the property was an iconic property in the area, and was only built in 2019.
“There is nothing like that because you have your old buildings that can be repaired, and then there are new ones,” he said.
“This was able to be built [by] bringing in a simple form of construction, and concrete and steel beams – and it’s just something we’ve never seen before in a residential home.”
The steel beams are believed to have been manufactured by UK steel manufacturer Dorman Long, who built the Sydney Harbor Bridge. Photo: realestate.com.au
The largest man-made lake on the Atherton Tablelands was completed in 1958, three-quarters the size of Sydney Harbour. It has become one of the most popular tourist spots in the region, attracting keen anglers for its barramundi and sooty grunter.
Although there have been reports that there are crocodiles that are relatively harmless compared to fresh water in the lake, officials say their dangerous saltwater relatives do not live in Lake Tinaroo.

The home also has links to one of Australia’s most prominent landmarks – the Sydney Harbor Bridge – as the steel beams used throughout are believed to have been manufactured by UK steel manufacturer Dorman Long, who built the iconic Harbor Bridge.
“The building itself has that real rustic feel, the mix of concrete and steel … all that looks good, but it’s also kind of indestructible, so it doesn’t need to be updated,” Ms Blease said.
“It’s a really solid home.”

Designed to accommodate multiple people, the floorplan features open spaces that seamlessly connect the interior and exterior, several living areas, comfortable window seats and a stunning industrial-style kitchen with a large concrete breakfast bar, wood accents, double ovens and a gas cooktop.
The central fireplace is the focal point of the lower level, which Ms. Blease said heats the entire home without any smoke as it is vented.

Other highlights of the fully furnished home include two ensuite bathrooms and walk-in closets, a media room, an office space, and an outdoor kitchen, and there are plans to convert the shed into an additional retreat.
Interested buyers have been eyeing the property with plans to use it as a holiday home, with a long-term relocation perspective.

Ms Blease said the prime location in this area within walking distance to Yungaburra Village was not waiting.
“That’s a small thing that’s very helpful to people,” he said.
