Billy Joel’s Daughter Alexa Reveals Singer’s Touring Future—Weeks After Selling Long Island Estate

Billy Joeldaughter of Alexa Ray Joel revealed whether he plans to return to the stage amid a mental breakdown—weeks after leaving his deserted Long Island home to spend more time in Florida.
The 40-year-old daughter of the “Vienna” singer, 76, who announced on May 23 that she will stop her tour to focus on treatment for normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), shared an update on her life and work schedule with her fans.
NPH occurs when fluid builds up in the brain, causing difficulty walking and balancing, confusion, and forgetfulness, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
According to a statement issued by the singer’s spokesperson on Instagram, his condition “has been made worse by recent concert performances, resulting in hearing, vision and balance problems,” forcing him to withdraw from the dates he was planning to visit.
“Under his doctor’s orders, Billy is undergoing some physical therapy and has been advised to stop working during this recovery period. Billy is very grateful for the excellent care he is receiving and is fully committed to putting his health first,” the announcement continued.
The statement added that the “Piano Man” singer is grateful for the “support” of his fans and that he is “looking forward” to performing when his health is in a better place.
Now, Alexa has given fans a long-awaited update on her dad’s app, telling The Hollywood Reporter that he’s “a trooper.”
She noted that her father is looking forward to returning to Carnegie Hall on March 19, when his daughter will be performing his songs at the tribute ceremony.
Alexa explained, “I said, ‘Dad, you better be there! This is Carnegie Hall. Everyone’s paying tribute to you, and it’s an amazing group of musicians.’ He said, ‘Let me mark that.’ She is very organized with her little calendar. He had a blast when he first played Carnegie Hall in the ’70s, so it’s exciting for him to come back decades later and see amazing musicians and his daughter honor him. It’s full cycle time.”
The 40-year-old singer also noted that his father’s health is doing much better.
“He does physiotherapy regularly, and he is doing very well,” he revealed. “He has lost weight as he eats his food. I am proud of him. He is a strong, strong army and is determined to be healthy and active. He is a fighter. He has always been a fighter and he talks in his documentary about how life is like fighting.”
She added, “He played it down. He knows I have anxiety and I’m an anxious person, so he was like, ‘Everything’s fine. It was just a little trip.’ When I saw the pictures, I cried. But then I went with him to the doctors, and we are on top of everything. I’m just telling him to stay healthy.”
Billy is looking forward to performing on stage again—a move that Alexa said will come with certain conditions.
“You’ve been an actor, you’re always a singer! But life comes first. I said, ‘If you’re going to sing again, please sit down at the piano. Don’t throw the microphone around!'” he revealed.
Alexa’s update on her father’s life comes a few weeks after she released her Long Island location.
Billy has been trying to sell most of his Long Island property since March 2025, when it was listed at $39.9 million, which he first put completely of the property, made up of three parcels, is on the market for an even higher price of $49 million.
However, after months of no concrete offers, the asking price of the prime residence was lowered, first to $29.9 million, then to $25 million.

In 2025, he sold the seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom mansion for $7 million. On March 6, 2026, Billy sold the main property—called “Middlesea”—for $23.2 million, and the combined lot totaled $35.75 million.
He bought his Long Island sanctuary in 2002 for $22.5 million before taking over two adjoining lots.
The main residence, which comes with 14.6 acres of land, was previously on the market for $25 million, while two adjacent lots were listed for $3.5 million each.
When we decide to divide the areas, Emmett LaffeyCEO of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Laffey International Realty, said, “The new price reflects the separation of the two waterfront buildings, so the net price remains the same.”
“When [Billy Joel] he bought this 20 years ago, he bought a big house. When he lived there, he bought two nearby plots, which are construction sites, and he also bought a gate. Now we are selling it as he bought it—in pieces. The smartest way to sell this amazing land and property is the way you buy it,” Laffey previously told the Post.
Laffey noted that several big “fans” have already tried to take over the property and have put in several offers.
“It has a huge following. It’s very special. It’s a very popular home for everyone on the North Shore of Long Island,” he said.
The mansion is more than 20,000 square feet and comes with five bedrooms, six full baths, two half baths, a game room, a spa and hair salon, a bowling alley and a wine cellar.
There is also a pool inside the house, which Billy covered so that he could use this space as a music room, because of its excellent sound.

The property also has a three-bedroom beach house, a three-bedroom guest apartment, and a four-bedroom gatehouse, which have all been sold.
Other luxury amenities include a floating dock and boat ramp, two outdoor pools, and a helipad.
Billy has previously insisted that he will still call Long Island home, but will be spending more time in Florida.
Although Billy and Alexa often focus on music, they have exchanged residences, as he sold his Manhattan property, a two-bedroom condo, for $4.5 million to Alexa.
Although he passed the residence on to a family member, the singer didn’t skimp on the price, earning an impressive $1.2 million on the $3.3 million he paid for the Elizabeth Street residence in 2010, when he bought it from his then-wife,Katie Lee.
Property records now show that the two-bedroom, two-bathroom residence has been transferred to Alexa following a $4.5 million transaction, as first reported by Crain’s.
The home, located at 211 Elizabeth St., covers 1,600 square feet. Earlier renderings revealed black herringbone floors, black crown molding, and a black-toned chef’s kitchen, according to Curbed.
Transferring the property to her daughter’s name has been a tradition for quite some time, as it is reported that Alexa has lived in the property since 2010.
