A $12m auction is selling the AFL star’s home and house without doors and windows

More than $12 million worth of property was sold at one weekend auction: including a house now worth $6.15m, an AFL star’s investment property, and a house with missing doors and windows.

The latest Ray White Collective auction event took place on Saturday morning, March 14, with 24 Brisbane homes up for sale.

With a clearance rate of 70 per cent on the day, the event grossed an impressive $12.708m in sales – almost half of that for one property.

The March 14 Ray White Collective auction event sold more than $12 million that day, with $10m of that coming from just three buildings.

The home at 38 Moreton St, New Farm, sold for almost half of the proceeds of the event.

A four-bedroom, four-bathroom house at 38 Moreton St, New Farm, ended up achieving the highest sale price of the day at $6.15m.

The home known as ‘Garnock’ is one of four properties designed by renowned Queensland contractor Charles Willcocks near Moreton St.

Built in the 1890s, the homes were designed by architect Claude William Chambers, and are now listed as heritage sites.

After the renovation awarded in 2012 by Vokes and Peters, the home entered the auction with four registered bidders: all of them were active throughout the race.

The four-bedroom, four-bathroom property was one of four heritage homes built over the past century, and has four registered applicants.

The property sold for $6.15 million: the number unfortunately does not include four.

But while $6.15m might get you a valuable home, a home can still fetch millions if it has no doors or windows at all.

A one-bedroom house at 28 Parry St, Bulimba, also saw four people register to bid, but only two were willing to buy the vacant house.

The former Queenslander lives on two properties, and has permission to develop three luxury townhouses using the building’s existing structure.

A semi-detached house at 28 Parry St, Bulimba has no doors and windows, but it has planning permission for three luxury townhouses on two lots.

Two registered bidders battled for the property with the intention of acquiring the land and developing it, the home being sold for $2.3m.

Ray White Bulimba agent Brandon Wortley said the winner would need to keep the facade and roofline if they wanted to develop, but the land and location made the prospect attractive to many buyers.

“It was a great auction – there’s a lot of mystery about it,” he said. “It was on the market for 17 days. I was visiting places and had to wear work boots!”

As two bidders go head-to-head for the semi-detached house, the property goes under the hammer for an astonishing $2.3m.

Former AFL player Simon Black has sold his former home at 15 Jenolan Ave, Hawthorne, at the event.

The home had become an investment property, selling for $2.125m after a dispute between two bidders.

Meanwhile, the former home of Brisbane Lions player Simon Black has been sold to a local buyer, after a bidding war between its two registered bidders.

The four-bedroom, two-bathroom house was turned into an investment property by the assistant coach, with an indoor swimming pool and a modern open plan living area.

The house went under the hammer at $2.125m, making more than $10 million across all three properties.
