The owners have made the ‘regrettable’ decision to sell their new luxury Bulimba riverside home

River views and simple entertainment are just part of the appeal of a luxury waterfront residence currently on the market in one of Bulimba’s most sought-after riverfront pockets.

Located at 39 McConnell St, ‘Camber’ was completed in mid-2024 and captures sweeping views of the Brisbane River across to Hamilton and down to the Gateway Bridge.

This two-level luxury home includes four bedrooms, multiple living areas, a riverside pool, and its own private boat pontoon.

Tania and Ben Shapiro bought this period home shortly before it was completed, as they were drawn to Bulimba and the amazing design of the place.

“Bulimba is a place in itself with a good sense of community, so we looked for it and then we looked for something on the river when we saw this place,” said Ms. Shapiro.

“The developers have been at pains to fix it and it has this bold and bold design that I really like.”

Entered through a courtyard, the home has open living areas, a soaring void and a continuous visual connection with the river.

“It has these huge floor-to-ceiling windows and a beautiful nose that always brings in natural light,” Ms. Shapiro said.

“It feels very open. I love playing the piano, and the music goes through the space.”

Downstairs there is a four-car garage and media room above the open-plan lounge, dining and kitchen leading to a covered alfresco area, overlooking the pool and river.

Upstairs are three large bedrooms, with ensuites, a sitting room, a dedicated office, and a master suite with views of the river and Hamilton.

“The master bedroom is beautiful,” said Ms. Shapiro.

β€œIt has a fire place where you can sit, looking across the river, which feels peaceful.

“It also has this nice big bathroom and lots of wardrobe space for a woman who likes to shop.”

The home has a bathroom full of luxury amenities, including a fireplace in the living room, a butler’s pantry, and a wet bar, while the outdoor entertaining area has a full kitchen, complete with a refrigerator and sink.

“It’s a great place to hang out, especially in the afternoons,” said Ms. Shapiro.

β€œYou can see it in full flow and watch how it turns and changes at different times of the day and tides.

β€œIt’s great to watch the sunset with a charcuterie board and a glass of wine and you also get to see the Gateway Bridge lit up at dusk.”

The home is located within walking distance of the boat centre, golf course, and Oxford St, and will be just a short walk from the Bulimba Barracks redevelopment.

“Everything is at your door,” said Mrs. Shapiro.

“In some ways you feel like you’re in the city, but you’re not.

“And it’s very convenient as it’s a low-maintenance city-style block, so you can lock up and go.”

As the Shapiros are about to pursue business opportunities in the US, Ms. Shapiro said the family made the painful decision to sell their waterfront home.

“It’s the kind of house that suits everyone,” said Ms. Shapiro.

Camber is listed with Carla Hadden of Place Bulimba, and is for sale to a high offer, postings close on March 17.
