Miley Cyrus mocks Alex Cooper for moving in with her Next Door after ‘making money’ on ‘Call Him Daddy’.

Miley Cyrus revealed the strange way she ended up signing up for the “Call Her Daddy” podcaster. Alex Cooper to host the “Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special,” joking that he couldn’t help but sign her up—because the two are neighbors in Los Angeles.

Cyrus, 33, who rose to fame while playing a pop star in the new series, will return to his roots in a new Disney + special that will see him open up about his experience filming the show, while revealing a never-before-seen look.

Although the anniversary has special features from several guests—including Cyrus’ parents, Billy Ray Cyrus again Tish Cyrus-it was Cooper, 31, who was called to interview the singer and actress about her favorite “Hannah Montana” memories.

Now, Cyrus has shed some light on how that partnership came to be, taking part in a special performance, which began airing on Disney + on March 24, and jokingly called Cooper “creepy” for his high commitment to “Hannah Montana” again his decision to move closer to the singer’s residence in Los Angeles.

“I called [Alex] with this uncontrollable idea,” recalls Koresi.[I said]’Do you think it would be a good idea to do a ‘Hannah Montana’ anniversary special?’ But because I was among you, because I was Hannah, I didn’t know what you all would want.

“And Alex is a big fan—[which is] what’s scary!—he’s also my neighbor, and what’s scary. He got the money and moved to my neighbor’s house.”

Cyrus noted that, after learning how close Cooper had always been to him, he had no choice but to ask him to host the special, adding: “There was no other host, I was like, just walk by the door.”

However, the “Hannah Montana” star didn’t end her sarcasm there—she continued to accuse Cooper of feigning innocence about their property’s closeness.

“It was weird, he was like, ‘Oh my god, you live here?'” Koresi said. “He interviewed me in my house, five years ago, about it [she] you know exactly where I am!”

Cyrus was talking about her August 2020 appearance on Cooper’s hit podcast, “Call Her Daddy,” which was taped at her Studio City residence—with the two women sitting outside in the backyard while discussing everything from the singer’s breakup with Hemsworth to her memories of “Hannah Montana.”

Although Koresi teases Cooper, the two don’t live next door to each other, but are a three-minute drive away in Studio City—the place where the singer bought his first home in 2011, when he was a teenager.

The chart-topper paid $3.9 million for his sprawling 5,000-square-foot, five-bedroom, seven-bathroom home. He still owns the property to this day, despite adding several other properties to his portfolio over the years.

In a previous listing for the home, it was described as being in a “spectacular” hilltop location, a location that afforded “amazing canyon views”.

When Cyrus bought it, the mid-century modern residence had just undergone a renovation that saw it reduced to schools and “reimagined” to create “the perfect celebrity hideaway.”

Although he later moved to a residence in Malibu with his then-partner, Liam HemsworthCyrus is understood to have moved into her Studio City apartment when their home was reduced to ashes in the 2018 Woolsey Fire, just weeks before the duo tied the knot.

Later, Cyrus would describe this fire as the main turning point in his life, which he said made him more clear about what was important—and what wasn’t important.

“When my house burned down, that was the biggest blessing I’ve ever had in my life,” he said at a Q&A session in New York in May 2025.

“Losing everything and being able to rebuild, and being able to have a purpose and choose all the pieces to collect—or about the people in my life.”

Cyrus and Hemsworth, who married in December 2018, separated in the summer of 2019, and their divorce was finalized in 2020.

Not long after news of their split began making headlines, Koresi revealed the problems in their marriage in his August 2019 hit song “Slide Away,” where he confessed his desire to leave Malibu and return to the “city lights.”

“So you won’t skate/ I’m back in the ocean, I’m back in the city lights,” she sang—a song many interpreted as a sign that she had recently moved to Malibu because of Hemsworth’s desire to live there.

Meanwhile, Cooper and her husband, a film producer Matt Kaplanthey snapped up their Studio City home 11 years later, in 2022, when they fetched a staggering $10.7 million for a 5,000-square-foot residence on a 1.5-acre parcel.

According to Google Maps, Cooper and Kaplan’s place is just a three-minute drive, or an 11-minute walk, away from Koresi’s place, and both properties offer an amazing level of privacy, despite being close to downtown LA.

But while Koresi’s apartment was newly renovated when he bought it, Cooper and Kaplan faced a very different home-buying experience, one that saw them take on an apartment they knew would need a major makeover.

Indeed, Cooper previously admitted to Architectural Digest that the prospect of turning the home into their dream space was more than a little daunting.

“I was very sad about how much work there will be, because [the home] it wasn’t our style,” he said.

However, he soon realized that buying a house that was far from what they wanted in terms of aesthetics was actually a bonus—because they could actually treat it like a blank canvas.

“That turned out to be a good thing [of it],” he explained.

After creating the perfect living space to build their life together, Kaplan cemented the importance of space in their relationship in 2023 by getting down on one knee and popping the question to Cooper in their backyard.

Indeed, the “Call Her Daddy” presenter finally felt at home in her new Studio City neighborhood until she revealed in December 2024 that she bought her parents a place to live not far from her place.

“My parents officially moved to Los Angeles and I bought them a house,” the former Barstool Sports star announced. “It makes me think emotionally about it, because when I started ‘Call Me Her Father,’ I had an idea of what I hoped this would turn into.”
