Orlando Bloom downgrades $18.5m mansion after Katy Perry split

Orlando Bloom has listed his longtime Malibu bachelor pad for $US12 million ($A18.5 million) after his split from pop star Katy Perry last year.

The Lord of the Rings actor is selling his four-bedroom house because he hasn’t lived there in a few years and has moved north to California, Realtor reports.

Property records show Bloom bought the home with his then-wife, Aussie supermodel Miranda Kerr, in 2011 for about $US2.5 million ($A3.8 million).

The Hollywood star said in an interview, the 1970s house was his first residence for more than a decade.

He has completed extensive renovations in this area. Bloom said the jobs cost more than double what he was originally paying.

When he first bought the home, Bloom said the basement was “higgledy piggledy”. He flipped the floor plan to create an open living room and kitchen.

The actor also added an outdoor pool overlooking the ocean.

Bloom’s son, Flynn Bloom, spent most of his early life in this area.

For years after Bloom and Kerr split in 2013, the Aussie model lived in a nearby home so their son could be close to both parents.

Kerr is also married to Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel. Property records show he sold his Malibu home in 2024 for US4.1 million ($A6.3 million).

Bloom later dated Katy Perry for almost ten years. The couple confirmed their split last year.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star said he is reluctant to let go of the Malibu house.

He rented it last year and realized he might not go back there.

“It looks like it might be the right time to let it go,” he said.

The home is located in a gated community and features interior design by artist Roy McMakin.

The space has a “Japanese feel” and is full of bright colors, including seafoam green kitchen cabinets and Mexican tiles.

It also has a garage where Bloom keeps his motorcycle collection.

“Outside the door, you’ve got some amazing driving experiences in the canyons of Malibu,” he said.

While Bloom and Perry were together, the agency tied to the couple foreclosed on the Montecito home in 2024.

That purchase followed years of court battles with businessman Carl Westcott over the property. It is unclear whether Bloom still owns the home.

Listing agent Chris Cortazzo said the Malibu market has been busy in recent weeks.

“Everything is quiet” following last year’s wildfires, he said.
