EXCLUSIVE: ‘7 Little Johnstons’ stars reveal nightmare of turning family home into wedding venue for Liz and Brice

A lot goes into getting a house ready to host an event, as the stars of “7 Little Johnstons” learned when they planned a wedding in the family’s backyard in Georgia.
Because Liz Johnston again Brice BoldenThey share a daughter Leighton Bolden2, and recently announced that they have another child on the way, converting the Johnston family’s Forsyth residence into an authentic wedding venue for their November 2025 wedding meant removing infected trees from the back garden where they intended to place the reception tent.
Throughout the TLC series featuring a close-knit family of seven all with achondroplasia dwarfism, the Peach State estate owned by Liz’s parents, Amber again Trent Johnstonserved as home base for Liz and her four siblings: Jonah, Anna, Alexagain Emma.
Shortly after Liz got engaged to her longtime boyfriend in May 2025 during a beach vacation in Pensacola, FL, the bride-to-be decided there was no better place to say “I do” than at her mom and dad’s spread, so the family stepped up to plan a fall affair.
Liz and Brice’s road to the altar took center stage in Season 17 of the show, which premiered on March 17.

But the excitement about the couple’s wedding quickly turned into stress about the wedding day plans and all the talk about the timeline, the cost concerns, and the eventful dress shopping trip.
In an upcoming episode of the show, Liz, along with Brice and his parents, meet Juliewedding planner, to tour the grounds behind the Johnston home to find out where everything will go on the big day—and what will need to be removed beforehand.
In an exclusive clip from the upcoming episode, titled “Bridesmaids Giving,” the Johnstons welcome Julie in their farmhouse-inspired entryway, and the wedding expert wastes no time leading the ceremony.
“Ready to plan?” he says. “Yes, let’s go see it.”
As the group walks through the white French doors and out into the courtyard, Trent drops some advice to his future son-in-law on how to handle what’s about to be discussed.
“I’ve already told Brice, the best way to go about this is, ‘It looks good. Oh, I think that’s good,'” Trent suggested.
Having dealt with this many times before, Julie agrees that the best thing Brice can say is “Yeah, whatever you want, honey.”

As she walks down a dirt path shaded by a forest of mature trees with a bed of green shoots on the ground, Liz explains the most important goal she hopes to achieve by inviting Julie to her parents’ home.
“So Julie and I had a lot of conversations with each other about planning this wedding in my parents’ field and we shared a lot of motivational things and so on, but she wants to get to the real idea and start nailing down where all our big things will be,” he said.
Armed with a file full of papers and drawings of the proposed exterior floor plan, Julie jumps into wedding planning mode.
“So because we made a little fun of everything, so, here’s the tent,” he begins before Trent interrupts to ask how big the tent will be.
“It’s a 66 by 43 canvas tent, with wooden poles and it’s really nice,” answered Julie.
Amber has questions, too, and tries to explain her understanding of the party structure.
“Also, the reception tent will accommodate diners and will house a dance floor and DJ,” he said.

Liz confirms that indeed, the big tent she wants to set up in the lobby’s courtyard “is where most of the people will be that night.”
Julie seems happy with the size of the Johnstons’ land, but expresses concern about the shape of one tree.
“This should be a lot of land; this tree here is probably the only thing that worries me,” he said.
Thankfully, Trent reveals that the hardwood in question is scheduled to be cut down.
“So, you can see that the tree is ready to come down to face the crime,” he said, pointing to the trunk and branches of the tree that seemed to be unhealthy.
Meanwhile, Amber goes to another tree that is placed in a potentially problematic area.
“Yes, but maybe we need to go ahead and remove this tree,” he adds.
Even as Trent comments that the trees in the felling stage are “beautiful oak” and “sweetgum,” Amber continues her compliments.

“Well, take them both out,” he said without beating around the bush.
In a behind-the-scenes moment away from the busy wedding planning scene, Trent expresses some disappointment about the fake tree plan, but ultimately admits that his wife is right.
“I think a two-hour wedding is more important than a 50-year-old tree, so we have to cut down two trees,” he began. But if you ask me, I’m like, ‘Oh my god, we’ve got dead trees down here.’ I have about four trees to come down.”
With the root of the problem determined, it looks like the Johnstons will need to put in some hours clearing trees from their yard if they want to officially grow their family with the wedding of Liz and Brice’s dreams.
“7 Little Johnstons” airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on TLC.
