EXCLUSIVE: Aubrey Plaza Finds Buyer For $5.8 Million California Compound Where Husband Jeff Baena Died

An actress Aubrey Plaza has found a buyer for his Spanish-style California compound—about three months after putting it back on the market for a reduced price of $5.75 million.
Plaza, 41, originally listed the Los Feliz property for $6.5 million in September, eight months after her husband, a film director. Jeff Baenahe died by suicide inside the house.
However, the four-bedroom property was withdrawn after a few months, before re-appearing on the market at a very low asking price in January this year.
Now, property records show that the Plaza has accepted an offer for the home, although it is not yet clear what price was agreed upon with the buyer. The property is currently listed as “contingent,” meaning the deal is being prepared to close, but certain conditions need to be met before the sale can be completed.
Plaza and Baena—writer and director—purchased their home together in October 2022, paying $4.7 million for the Los Feliz property.
Records show the property was purchased through a trust owned by a casting company that shares offices with the Plaza’s production company, Evil Hag Productions.
The Mediterranean-style residence, with four bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms, was built in 1928 and appears to have been bought off the market, according to Realtor.com® data.
Before being purchased by the couple in 2022, the home last changed hands in 2017 for $3.6 million.
In its new listing, the Spanish-style home is described as “tucked away on a private cul-de-sac” in the “desirable” Los Feliz Oaks neighborhood.
“Carefully restored and tastefully updated, the home honors its architectural heritage while offering modern amenities including a screening room, wine cellar, pool, large steam room, and state-of-the-art sound system,” the description continues.
“This is more than a home… it’s a private sanctuary, brought back to life with care, style, and lasting character. A rare opportunity for those seeking space, solitude, and true Spanish charm.”
The listing photos reveal an incredibly sweet interior, with a neutral, elegant palette used throughout the home, filled with natural light.
The light and airy kitchen has large glass doors to the backyard, helping to create a seamless flow between the two spaces.
However, there are several pops of color throughout, including a large pink sofa in one of the living areas, and a fun yellow and green tile in the bathroom.
Pink seems to be Plaza’s favorite color, the master bathroom is painted a very pale rose, and the master bathroom also has fun lighting in the same color.
The home also offers many amenities outside of the main residence, including multiple outdoor living areas “designed for dining, relaxing, and entertaining,” and a beautiful swimming pool set on a grassy, tree-lined lawn that provides natural shade on the hottest days.

In one of the living areas, an arched art window helps emphasize the beauty of the home’s surroundings, offering a beautiful view of the property’s gardens—acting almost like a piece of natural art in the space, which also has a cozy fireplace.
Arches run throughout the living space, from the arched front door to the arched doorways that lead from room to room in many of the main living areas.
Plaza and Baena bought the home more than a year after revealing they tied the knot, the actress shared the news in a May 2021 Instagram post where she referred to her partner as her “beloved husband.”
The couple, who dated since 2011, kept their relationship under wraps; however, Plaza previously noted that their shared love of the movie industry has been a huge boon to their love.
“I think when you have someone in your field, you understand what you’re going through on a deep level,” he told People in 2019. “So obviously you can support each other and really understand the kind of journey we’re both on.”
Baena was pronounced dead on Jan. 3, 2025 in the Los Feliz neighborhood where he lived with Plaza, and the Los Angeles County Coroner later confirmed the cause of death as a suicide.
Plaza later broke his silence about his struggle to deal with his grief, telling another comedianAmy Poehlerthat his destruction felt like “a great, terrible sea.”
During an appearance on Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast in August of that year, the “Honey Don’t!” The star explained that, while she did her best to face each day as it came, processing the loss of her husband was “a daily struggle.”
“All in all, I’m here and I’m working. I feel very grateful to walk the world. I think I’m good, but it’s like a daily struggle, obviously,” he admitted.
