Crypto News Today: Monero Surpasses $592, Legendary Trader Peter Brandt Compares XMR to Silver
Monero surges above $590 as Zcash momentum fizzles / Monero (XMR) has risen to a new record high, trading above $567 on Sunday and heading for around $592. This is its highest level on record. At the time of writing, it is trading at around $569.
Monero’s strong run which has seen XMR jump over 20% in 24 hours and almost 40% in the last week, shows the strong rotation within the privacy-coin niche.
Is Monero’s exit part of a broader privacy coin return? They have been quietly outpacing the majority of the market since Q4 2025. In fact, Monero and Zcash were among the top performers in 2025, even before XMR moved to the top.

In fact, popular trader Peter Brandt has said that Monero may be getting close to where it came from. He compared Monero’s multi-year price structure to silver’s decades-long setup before its recent historic surge.
CIO at Merkle Tree Capital, Ryan McMillin suggested that privacy is one of the few crypto sectors that “held up well” due to the volatility of 2025.
In addition, analysts say that the recent leg high extends the multi-week high that started in late 2024, and Monero continues to grind even with many major coins that have been sidelined. On the weekly chart, XMR has already released its biggest cycle of 2018. Does this reveal a new phase of price discovery in one of the longest running crypto privacy networks?
