EXCLUSIVE: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s $30 Million Netflix Mansion Finally Finds a Buyer After More than 4 Years on the Market

A $30 million California mansion there Prince Harry again Meghan Markle footage from their breakout Netflix documentary has finally found a buyer—after spending more than four years languishing on the market.

Local records show that the rare residence at 888 Liliac Drive in Montecito is under a contingent offer, a condition commonly used for homes whose sellers have accepted an offer—but certain conditions need to be met before the deal closes.

It marks a major milestone in the somewhat complicated history of the property, which became the source of much controversy after Harry, 41, and Meghan, 44, filmed their Netflix show, “Harry & Meghan,” inside the home.

The 13-square-metre Spanish residence, which sits a stone’s throw from the Sussexes’ Montecito home – faced an uphill battle to find a buyer as it was originally listed for $33.5 million in August 2021.

It was then pulled from the market in November of that same year, before appearing again in March 2022—nine months before the premiere of the couple’s titular Netflix series.

Days after the show was shown around the world, sparking a wave of media scrutiny, the home found itself in the spotlight after it was identified as the location where Harry, 40, and Meghan, 44, filmed their sit-down interviews for the six-part series.

Although the documentary didn’t reveal an in-depth look at the home or its many amenities—including a gym, theater, bar, game room, pool, and guest house—the sensational nature of the series caused a huge wave of media coverage, so much so that it seemed like it would be a long time before the house was taken.

“Spoiler: That’s not Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s House,” read another article about this place, as others pointed out that, not only did the couple not use their residence to take pictures, but that the place they chose was actually on the market.

“Harry and Meghan Filmed Their Netflix Documentary at This $33.5 Million Montecito Manse. Now It Can Be Yours,” another source said.

According to the home’s listing agent, Ryan Malmstenthe location was not intended to be identified as the location where the couple filmed on Netflix—though he admitted to SF Gate that interest in the listing increased after that information was made public.

“Harry and Meghan did [their Netflix show] there, and I was attacked by all the newspapers in the world,” he said.

While that announcement certainly drew a lot of attention to the listing, when the buzz died down, the six-bedroom property remained on the market—fading into the background as excitement about the documentary slowly faded.

By May 2023, the property had been delisted, the owners choosing to keep it off the market for a year, before making another sale bid, this time for a reduced asking price of $29.99 million.

In recent months, the home has come close to finding a buyer, but Malmsten noted that many of those opportunities fell through at the last minute.

“We have come close to selling it several times,” he explained. “For whatever reason, that buyer chose something else.”

Now, it seems that the sellers are one step closer to finally releasing the spacious residence, which sits on two acres of fertile land and is beautifully framed by the Santa Ynez Mountains.

The home’s struggle to sell contrasts with Montecito’s growing market in a different way—one that has been made more attractive to buyers by Harry and Meghan’s decision to live there, while using it as a location for many of their projects, including the mother-of-two’s series, “With Love, Meghan.”

Also, the Duchess of Sussex opted out of using their property as a filming location, instead opting for a nearby $9.5 million residence that was rented as a film set for the series, which was described as a “positive impact” on the Montecito area by a local real estate agent. Dina Landi.

Indeed, between May 2019, before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex settled into their nine-bedroom, 16-bathroom home to raise their two children, and December 2025, the price in Montecito increased by 36%, from $4.9 million to $6.7 million, according to the data.

Landi noted, however, that Montecito has more to offer than its A-list allure, explaining that the area’s unbeatable quality of life is what draws people to it, adding that the community has seen an influx of affluent buyers—from other parts of California, as well as Miami, New York City, and Dallas—all seeking a life of luxury.

However, Malmsten – who said the owners of 888 Lilac Drive have turned down all other offers to rent the house for listing since offering it to Meghan and Harry – noted that the size of the property he was trying to sell turned off many buyers, many of whom wanted a home with a very small square footage.

“Consumers today want less square footage,” he explained to SF Gate. “They will pay the same amount, but they want a smaller house. That is a big challenge.”

Compared to other Montecito properties currently listed on Realtor.com, Lilac Drive really stands out in terms of square footage.

There’s just one large property on the market in the tony Santa Barbara enclave—a 16,668-square-foot home listed for $34.9 million. That home was originally put on the market for $36.5 million in February 2025.

Meanwhile, a nearby $27 million property offering just 8,847 square feet of space found itself with a buyer within months of being listed.

Still, Lilac Drive has a lot to offer someone willing to take on a property of such stature, including “sweeping ocean views, spacious accommodations, high-end amenities, and stunning design,” according to its listing.

“The flexible spaces inside and out make this an intimate home for two people but can easily accommodate crowds of over 200 people,” the description continues. “Living off the grid has never been so good. Solar, generator, gray water irrigation system, private well, organic vegetable bed and citrus orchards, chicken coops, and private gardens define a sustainable mindset and provide an unparalleled paradise.”
