A $4m home on the doorstep of ‘Australia’s most beautiful road’ has views to die for

A rare opportunity to live on the doorstep of “Australia’s most beautiful road” is available, but it comes with a small catch.

Located on the southern corner of a road that has recently become viral for its coastal views and rolling farmland – which promoters have crowned Australia’s ‘most beautiful’ and ‘most beautiful’ road – 176 Belinda Street in Gerringong on the NSW south coast also offers a different kind of accommodation – a 162-year-old cemetery.

Listed with a guide price of $4 million, selling agent Daniel Watt of South Coast Prestige Properties said the listing has attracted interest from buyers, as cemetery views aren’t really an issue.

“It’s actually one of my favorite parts of Gerringong – it’s so peaceful and beautiful,” she said.

“The master bedroom faces the marina, across the cemetery… I don’t know if more than half a dozen homes in Gerringong have that,” he said. “I see it as a big draw card.”

Another attraction has been the viral Tasman Drive, which turns off Belinda Street, filled with tourists trying to capture a selfie or video set amidst the stunning views of Werri Beach.

While a few interested buyers commented on social media, Mr Watt said it was a very small crowd.

“Most of the buyers I’ve talked to about this group are mature people, but their kids have said it, a few people have said it, it wasn’t a big deal,” he said, adding that this prime city pocket always attracts a lot of interest.

“That strip of Gerringong, it has a very unique feature,” he said.

“You get both the north-facing view that Tasman Drive gets, but you also get the south-facing view over the marina, which is limited to about a dozen houses in Gerringong that go on that cusp that’s not separated by that line of pine trees.”

Sellers Dennis and Attracta McKeveney have made the decision to sell their home of 10 years amid their plans to downsize.

They had a few blocks in the area to choose from when they built, and the cemetery across the street didn’t bother them.

“After coming out of Sydney, the views were fantastic,” Mr McKeveney said. My wife always wanted to look at the sea.”

Set on a 742sqm block, the contemporary home includes a studio/poolside cabana, swimming pool, three bedrooms, three bathrooms, high ceilings, Blackbutt flooring and clerestory windows.
