Katy Perry has signed on to buy Justin Trudeau’s new $4m home

Former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau has forked out more than $US3.1 million ($AU4.37m) for a mansion in Montreal’s exclusive Outremont neighborhood — and he’s got girlfriend Katy Perry’s approval.

Trudeau, 54, foreclosed on the nearly 100-story stone residence on February 16 after securing a loan through the Bank of Montreal.

The prestigious property has seven bedrooms, five bathrooms, a luxury office, and a lavish ballroom designed to host Trudeau’s dream bash, Realtor reports.

Spanning 4,965 square meters and sitting on 13,672 square metres, it’s hidden by an iron fence, mature trees, and a few trees – making it the perfect romantic hideaway for Trudeau and Perry, 41, who started dating in July 2025.

The north side of the house comes complete with a sidewalk and open driveway, while the south side includes a two-car garage and stone steps.

The home was first listed by realtor Joseph Montanaro last year for $3.3 million ($AU4.65m).

Trudeau is reportedly making extensive repairs to the property. According to Reality Tea, contractors are in the area.

The outlet also said the former Canadian prime minister offered Perry a place to stay.

He bought a house from Nicolas Ruggieri, who is the head of the real estate division at Batipart Invest.

Ruggieri bought the property in 2023 for $US3.9 million ($AU5.5m) from Marc DeSerres.

Annual rents for the residence are approximately $US28,000 ($AU39,500).

Trudeau stepped down as prime minister in March 2025 after ten years in office.

In his last year in office, he earned $US299,000 ($AU421,000). Next year, you will receive an annual pension of US$192,537 ($AU271,000). When he reaches the age of 67 he will receive another pension.

The Firework hitmaker and Trudeau confirmed their relationship in October, when they held hands at a cabaret show in Paris.

They first sparked dating rumors in July, when they were seen enjoying a meal together in Montreal, one month after it emerged that Perry had split from her boyfriend, Orlando Bloom.

At the time, neither party commented on the budding romance rumors — however, those rumors now seem to have been confirmed as fiction after the two were spotted leaving the famous Crazy Horse Paris venue, where they had been celebrating Perry’s birthday, according to TMZ.

Pictures taken of the couple show them both beaming from ear to ear, with Perry looking every inch the chart-topping icon in a figure-hugging red dress, and Trudeau in an all-black suit.

Their confirmation of romance came just months after they were first photographed together at Canadian hot spot Le Violon, where they enjoyed cocktails and tasty dishes.

According to TMZ, the couple met the chef after dinner and were so excited that they even returned to the kitchen to thank the staff.

The guards were watching the two through the glass as they leaned into the conversation and enjoyed their meal.

The confirmation of their relationship came just months after it was revealed that Perry and Bloom, 48, had split after nine years together.

Bloom, who shares a daughter, Daisy Dove, with Perry, later kept quiet about their split, telling Today host Craig Melvin during an interview in September that everything between them was “great”.

“I’m good man, thank you very much,” he said when asked how he’s holding on after “personal changes” in his life.

“We have a very beautiful daughter. You know when you leave everything on the field like I did in this film? I feel grateful for everything.”

Her comments come after insiders shared insight into Perry and Bloom’s plans to raise their five-year-old daughter, saying the former couple intends to stay “in a relationship” entirely for the sake of their child.

“Katy and Orlando are separated but they get along,” a source told Us Weekly.

“At the moment there is no conflict, Katy is sad but she is relieved that she didn’t get a divorce, because that was the worst time in her life.”

“They’re still very much in touch and raising Daisy together,” said a second insider, noting that Bloom and Perry both plan to continue living in Montecito, CA, in an effort to make sure Daisy’s life is as unaffected by their separation as possible.

“They’re not making big changes because of Daisy. They’re going to keep their lives in Montecito. They’re prioritizing Daisy’s stability and consistency,” said the undisputed source.

The couple started dating in 2016 after meeting at a Golden Globes party, where they had an In ‘N’ Out burger, which the singer previously revealed on an episode of American Idol.

Now that Perry and Trudeau’s relationship continues to blossom, the couple may settle into a new home purchased by the prime minister.

Trudeau, who separated from his wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, in August 2023, shares three children with his estranged wife, who are now said to be living with their mother in Montreal.

After the Trudeaus split, it was reported that the children would live with their mother – but their father would always see them, and a spokesman for the former prime minister said: “Both parents will always be present in their children’s lives and Canadians can expect to see the family together.”

Meanwhile Perry’s life has centered around Montecito, where he and Bloom snapped up two separate megamansions in a matter of months – one of which has been undergoing renovations since they bought it for $US14.2 million ($AU20m) in 2020.

It is not clear who will take full ownership of the property; however, records seen by Realtor.com show that only Perry’s name is currently in style.

As for their other home – which is just a six-minute drive away – it is understood that neither Bloom nor Perry are currently living in it, with reports suggesting it has been rented out to another A-list couple: Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger.

According to the Daily Mail, the pair moved into Perry’s home earlier this summer and plan to stay there until work is completed on their Brentwood property.

The home in question has been at the center of much controversy — and was the source of a heated legal battle between Perry and the home’s previous owner, veteran Carl Westcott.
