EXCLUSIVE: ‘Home Alone’ Star Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song Quietly Sell Their Toluca Lake Estate for $14.25 Million

“Home Alone” star Macaulay Culkin has quietly sold his California estate for $14.25 million—one year after going public about his role as a “housewife” with his longtime partner, Brenda’s song.

Culkin, 45, and Song, 37, who have been dating since 2017 and share two children together, bought a four-bedroom, five-bathroom house in Toluca Lake from another actor. Kiefer Sutherland in 2022 for $8 million.

According to property records obtained by Realtor.com®the couple made an impressive profit on the sale of the home, which appears to have been sold in an off-market deal that closed on Feb. 13, one day before Valentine’s Day.

The modern mansion, with 4,879 square feet, was built in 1935 and sits on 0.58 acres.

Because it was not officially listed, there is little information about what—if any—changes Culkin and Song made while living there, and no new photos of the home have been shared publicly.

Culkin, who rose to fame at the tender age of 10 when he played the role of Kevin McCallister in the popular holiday film, is widely recognized as one of the most recognizable child actors in the world, yet in recent years he has shied away from the limelight.

Instead of courting major movie roles, the actress has instead focused her attention on independent projects while also building a family with Song, whom she met in 2014.

In a previous interview with Cosmopolitan, which marked their first as a couple, Culkin and Song revealed how their relationship was born behind the walls of their homes, blossoming behind closed doors away from prying eyes and paparazzi.

One day, Song cooked Culkin dinner at home—and on another occasion, taught him to do his laundry. Then one Christmas, Song invited Culkin to celebrate at his parents’ home.

Culkin admitted that much of his life these days revolves around his role at home, where he has fully embraced being a full-time father for several years, happily holding down the fort so Song can focus on pursuing his screen career.

“These days, Mack seems more than happy to be a stay-at-home dad hanging out with his three-year-old kids. Dakota and 2 years Carson,” noted a Cosmopolitan writer.

“He’s proud that their house is the place to be every day of play, that he butts heads with his little one, that he stalks the halls like ‘Papa T-rex.’

When the couple spoke to this outlet in January 2025, they noted that they have learned to achieve a balance between their work projects and their roles as parents, doing so “without a babysitter” and instead relying on Song’s parents for help whenever they need it.

The two say they have worked hard to ensure their private lives remain just that: private. In fact, Culkin said she’s proud that members of the public still seem confused about her relationship with Song—and the fact that they have two children.

“That the public is like, ‘Wait, they’re together and they have kids?’ Good. That means we have done our job,” he said.

However, the couple explained that they finally reached a stage where they felt ready to share more of their lives with the public—starting with their Cosmopolitan cover photo, which Culkin convinced Song to do for their sons.

“This was his quote from yesterday: He said, ‘Honey, we have to make this cover. It’s for the mantel, for our boys,'” said Ngoma.

The photo in question captured the couple in their story: living their lives inside their home, showing them wearing pajamas and brushing their teeth, sleeping on the couch, and making coffee in the kitchen.

In one photo, Culkin can also be seen cleaning the pool.

The quiet life of a “stay-at-home dad” is a world away from the one the “Home Alone” star enjoyed during his prime, when he lived in a New York apartment (which he bought when he was just 19 years old), followed by paparazzi, while his name was splashed across tabloid front pages.

Culkin made it clear that any remaining connection to that old life was completely severed when he sold the aforementioned loft for $6 million, holding onto the property for over 20 years.

The actor is believed to have sold the three-bedroom, two-bathroom condo—which he bought for $1.7 million—for $7.75 million in early January in an off-market deal.

However, the actor has previously admitted that he had considered adding another residence to his real estate portfolio: the iconic property that served as the McCallister residence in “Home Only.”

The so-called “Home Alone House” hit the market in May 2024 for $5.25 million, and Culkin revealed a few months later that he had considered shooting it “just for giggles.”

“I had half a mind to buy it—just for giggles,” Culkin told an audience at the Rosemont Theater in Illinois during a December screening, according to the New York Times.

The actor added that he was thinking of turning the fictional home into a “movie fun house” where people can slide down the stairs like Kevin did in the movie.

Sadly, that scenario did not happen.

“I got children.

Instead, the home was snapped up by an unnamed buyer, who closed on the home for $5.5 million in Jan. 15, 2025, according to records.
