FBI Returns to Nancy Guthrie’s Neighborhood to Question Locals as Sheriff ‘Lowers’ Staff in 84-Year-Old Case

The FBI returned to Nancy Guthriein the Arizona area, where agents were seen questioning a missing 84-year-old boy who lives in the Catalina Foothills—while searching a garage in the neighborhood.

Several agents were seen going door-to-door near Nancy’s $1 million property, with a NewsNation reporter Brian Entin captures footage of FBI agents “talking to various neighbors” in the area.

Entin added that agents were seen in the “garage and driveway” of the home directly west of Nancy’s house, with video footage showing two officers walking down the driveway and getting into the car.

Their appearance on the scene comes shortly after it was revealed that the Pima County Sheriff’s Department has reduced the number of detectives working on the case – now in its second month.

Speaking to the outlet, Sgt. Aaron Crosswho is the president of the Pima County Deputies Organization, said that it is not yet clear what the reduction in staff really means.

“Everybody wishes that we had hot leads, that the whole department was working, trying to run to solve this quickly,” he said.

“So the fact that we’re reducing the number of active workers, I mean, it’s hard to say what kind of a sign that’s showing.”

On February 26, ABC News reported that the FBI has significantly reduced the number of employees working in the Tucson area, where Nancy’s home is located, sources told the agency that most of the agents in the case were called back to the agency’s headquarters in Phoenix.

However, it was made clear at the time that this development should not be taken as a sign that the investigation is over or that the authorities have no hope of finding Nancy.

“The FBI will keep agents in Tucson and continue to work with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, but many agents are returning to Phoenix to work on the case there,” the outlet reported.

Authorities have been working to gather any and all evidence in the area around Nancy’s home, including any video footage captured by doorbells or security cameras in her neighbors’ buildings.

Among the videos posted are a series of clips taken by a security camera located 2.5 miles from Nancy’s residence, which is said to show multiple vehicles driving down the road directly to her neighborhood on the morning she is believed to have been abducted.

Elias again Danielle Stratigouleas told Fox News that authorities have not yet questioned the surveillance footage, noting that they live about half a mile outside the 2-mile zone advertised by the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed to NBC News this week that authorities are reviewing the video and trying to identify the vehicles featured in it.

The video is said to include footage of a single car on the road at 2:36 a.m. on Feb. 1, at the same time that Nancy is thought to have been taken.

Nanos refused to confirm these claims, and simply said: “Look, what I can tell you is this: We’re looking at it, and we’re looking at it, just like any other piece of evidence. We’re looking at that car and hundreds of thousands of other cars that were out driving at that time.”

On Thursday, Nancy’s daughter, “Today” host Savannah Guthrieappeared in her hometown of New York for the first time since her mother disappeared—with video and photos showing the air star visiting the morning show’s Manhattan studio.

Savannah, 54, was pictured getting a warm welcome from her co-stars inside the space, including her vintage outfit.Hoda Kotbhe was seen shedding tears as he greeted.

At the same time, a spokesperson for NBC confirmed that Savannahit doesis fully committed to returning to her morning show hosting duties—but did not indicate when this would happen, noting that the mother of two is fully focused on searching for her missing mother.

“Savannah Guthrie stopped by the studio this morning to be with her ‘Today’ co-star,” a spokesperson said. “Although he plans to return to the air show, he is still focused on supporting his family and working to help Nancy at home.”

Video obtained by the New York Post showed Savannah leaving the “Today” show studio, escorted by several security guards and police officers—and greeted by well-wishers who expressed their sympathy for her mother’s case.

The aerialist then got into the back of a black SUV, before being driven away — presumably back to the Brooklyn townhouse she shares with her husband,Michael Feldmanand their two children, a daughterShut upand a sonCharlie.

After Savannah’s visit to the “Today” studio on Thursday, her colleague,Jenna Bush Hagerhe went public about his desire to return to this program, telling viewers: “He said he has the intention to return to this program, even though it sounds like a very difficult thing to do, and it is his home and where he feels loved.”

Sheinelle Joneshe added: “We’re not out of the storm, but there’s a light somewhere even in the middle of the storm. I think he’s coming here and just being able to be with us, and for us to be able to hug him, I think it’s a step.”

Savannah is not thought to have been in New York since Feb. 1, when her mother was reported missing—the same day a masked and armed robber was caught on camera approaching Nancy’s home early in the morning.

Hoda, who officially stepped down as host of Savannah’s “Today” in January 2025, has been filling in for her on the air since Feb. 2 and it sounds like he’s committed to continuing to support the program on the sidelines.Craig Melvinuntil his former star is ready to return.

Savannah’s husband, Michael, reportedly traveled to Arizona regularly from the couple’s home in Brooklyn, where he was caring for their two children, and Page Six reported in February that he and his “Today” co-star visited his wife.
