Airport West home with record-breaking ninja gym auctions for $2.52m

An extra $8500 backyard gym at 22 Coniston Drive, Airport West, had buyers raving about this record-breaking home.

A child’s dream backyard complete with a swimming pool, basketball court and $8500 ninja gym has helped an Airport West home set a record for under $2.52m.

And buyers were so enamored with the property at 22 Conniston Ave that they not only refused to wait for auction day – they refused to wait more than a week to offer.

The seller, Andrew, said the sale came as a surprise – just not the price.

“I didn’t know we were going to break the record,” he said.

“And the scary thing is that it went online on Thursday, it was sold a week later.

But we are happy with the result, and more than that, another family will enjoy this house.”

The backyard ninja gym was an online order from Perth as a Christmas present for the kids, and while it came with a price tag of $8500 – he said he was sure it more than paid for itself as they sold.

The home has plenty of charm from the facade, but little sign of its family-friendly rear garden.

The backyard has room for the kids to play soccer, basketball, swim and enjoy their own ninja gym.

“I don’t think anyone who walked into that back yard could have been wrong,” he said.

“I have three girls, and I built a backyard so they can go in there and have a Ninja Warrior set and a pool and spa and basketball; that’s what I wanted when I was a kid.

The house, which was completed about a year or two ago, has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a formal living room, a study and an open kitchen, a dining area and a rear living area.

But even though they loved the home, Andrew said they were able to use it as “four walls” to help them let it go.

West director Mark Marazita handled the sale and said it well surpassed Airport West’s record, $2.45m sale on Chancellor St in September.

Mr Marazita said that after one buyer put forward an offer of $2.45m, another group raised the price.

The open living areas of this home also attracted buyers.

The luxurious kitchen area offers plenty of room to cater for a crowd, or to accommodate the family.

Both parties were families, and they all enjoyed the backyard – a ninja gym that is expected to be added to the sale as a negotiated extra.

“It was definitely an attraction and it helped people visualize themselves behind the basketball court and the pool,” Mr Marazita said.

He went on to say that although the home record is different from many others in the suburbs because of the size of its yard, the result should be a sign of the buyer’s confidence in the suburbs.

In a strange way, instead of calling the auction as planned on Saturday, Mr. Marazita said that he will have to call Uber to put in the coupon that was sold after his car broke down.
