Formula 1 Legend Lewis Hamilton Reveals He’s ‘Starting a Farm’ at Sprawling Colorado Ranch – And He’s Got 2 Cows

Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton he may be busy competing for a record eighth driver’s championship—but that doesn’t mean he’s neglecting his interests away from the track, revealing at the season’s first major that he’s spent his winter off working on setting up his farm.
During a press conference at the weekend of the Australian Grand Prix, the 41-year-old Ferrari driver left fans of the sport stunned when he announced that he was “starting a farm,” revealing that the project was set up on his large ranch in Colorado.

Although Hamilton did not reveal the location of his farm, photos shared by the racing legend indicate that it is based on his farm in Colorado, which he has owned for more than 10 years.
The photo that flashed on the screen was taken from a January Instagram post where Hamilton was seen spending time with Max and Hombre, as well as his mother, Carmenbefore hitting the Colorado slopes on a snowboarding trip with some friends.
In the caption, Hamilton noted how “excited” he was about the opportunity to visit the venue and spend some time recharging ahead of the start of the new F1 season.
“Another comeback. I’m so grateful for this break. Time to disconnect, recharge and find inner peace,” he wrote. “Time with family and friends full of relaxation and laughter was all I needed after a very difficult year.
“In a fast-moving world where we’re constantly being pulled around in so many places, disconnecting has really been the most amazing experience.”
Despite boasting a jaw-dropping international portfolio that reportedly includes residences in New York, Monaco, and Switzerland, Hamilton has previously admitted that the property—which is understood to be in Avon, CO—is the only place where he truly feels at home.



In November 2020, the pilot told the BBC that he had spent much of the pandemic lying on a hillside, where he was able to retreat for long periods of time, something he said he had never had the opportunity to do before.
“I never really went home [before],” he said. “In my winter, I go to the mountains [in Colorado]which I see as my big home, because it’s a house and it’s full of love and memories from people, the family that comes every winter.”
Although the driver noted that his real home is his place in Monaco—where many Formula 1 drivers base themselves to take advantage of the lack of personal income, wealth, or capital gains tax—he said that place there is not as emotionally important to him as his place in Colorado.
“When I live in Monaco, there was where I go back and call home but it doesn’t have those memories. I will be there for a short time. So it was not very easy,” he explained.
In January of that same year, months before the COVID pandemic hit the world, Hamilton spoke of his love for his Colorado property in a touching post on Instagram, sharing a candid photo of himself hugging a large wooden pillar in the house.
“I never dreamed of having a home like the one I have now. I thank God every day for giving me a family that worked hard to give me the opportunity to do something for myself,” he wrote.
“And having a home that I love so much, creating so many wonderful memories brings me more joy than I ever thought I could deserve. I’m at peace when I’m here, I can focus and build my mind and body so I can come back year after year.”
As a Formula 1 driver, Hamilton—currently in Shanghai for the Chinese Grand Prix—spends most of his time traveling the world at races, which take place in many places from Bahrain to Singapore to the UK.
The 2026 F1 season, which began with pre-season testing in February, will have 24 races, most of which are scheduled on back-to-back weekends – although the drivers will have a break in August, when Hamilton may have the opportunity to pay another visit to his home in Colorado.
