EXCLUSIVE: ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Author EL James Lists Glass-Walled Los Angeles Mansion for $7.25 Million

“50 Shades of Grey” author EL James has put his Los Angeles home on the market for $7.25 million—down $1 million from his original asking price.

Author, whose best-selling book trilogy was turned into a chart-topping film series Dakota Johnson again Jamie Dornan in 2015, it took over the property in 2016 for $7.3 million.

Now, almost 10 years later, the author, whose real name is Erika Mitchellis trying to release a five-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom residence described as a “contemporary property” in the listing.

The property is 5,616 square feet and includes “explosive views of all of Los Angeles from Downtown to the ocean and beyond,” according to the listing.

Comfort increases from the moment you set foot on the grounds of the house, with large glass walls mixed with brick accents outside.

Upon entering the home, guests are greeted by an expansive floor plan with floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing natural light to flood in.

The cozy living area easily converts into a chef’s kitchen, with a large island, bar seating, modern cabinetry, and high-end appliances.

“Stone and hardwood floors, high ceilings, high-tech kitchen featuring lacquered wood cabinetry and Miele appliances,” reads the listing, hosted by. Mira Nourmand of Normand & Associates.

One of the many bedrooms follows the same modern aesthetic with its floor-to-ceiling windows, creating a sweeping view of the Hollywood Hills.

“Each bedroom has an en suite and the first bedroom offers a spacious open plan private space and outdoor patios,” the listing notes.

The first bathroom has a chic double vanity, a glass-enclosed shower, and a large soaking tub in front of a large window.

There is also a second lounge, which doubles as an entertainment center, and comes with a cozy fireplace, foosball table, and access to the balcony.

“The Media/Lounge features surround sound, a wet bar, a fireplace and a cozy Wine Room,” the listing notes.

James is believed to be the sole owner of the home, which was completed in 2016, the same year he bought it and three years later the property sold for a paltry $662,500.

The author took up residence four years after releasing the first of his most successful, self-published books, before the series became a global phenomenon, prompting James to sell the rights to Vintage Books.

Although he has long maintained a residence in Los Angeles, James — who is British — lives mainly in his native UK, where he reportedly owns several houses.

In addition to the main residence in West London, the writer and her husband, a screenwriter Niall Leonardit is understood they have a holiday property on the coast in Cornwall, which they bought in 2013.
